Kerry Crayford – Speech and Language Apprentice

Since I started working for ALP, I felt valued and supported, which propelled me into a new found confidence. Throughout my career I have gained fulfilment from being a part of many children’s journeys, and felt that it was time to explore my own.

I have seen how children affected by speech and language delays can lead to a poor experience at School. This is likely due to an inability to access their learning.  Children with an EHCP will often require either SLT or intervention leading to a high demand for SALT within school. This places extra pressures upon the school workforce to bridge the gaps. I observe these pressures daily as a Tutor which has identified a gap for an in-house SALT. I want to be the person who is equipped with the theoretical knowledge to create bespoke, tailored programmes around SLT.
