ALP Sittingbourne is a growing school in the process of expanding to 40 learners. Class sizes will be small, ranging from one to one teaching to classes of up to 6 learners. The school’s vision is to empower success through holistic and individualised learning. To achieve this we work with learners from primary to post-16 (7-19 years) and ensure that their needs are met and that each individual is provided a wide range of learning opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic SEN teacher for a full time position with an immediate start date, we will consider waiting for a September start for the right candidate. An experienced primary teacher is desirable but applications from other colleagues, including those with experience in EYFS or Secondary, will be welcomed.

Are you a dedicated Tutor who has enthusiasm and passion for working with learners with special educational needs?
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Tutor to join the ALP Schools team at our ALP Sittingbourne campus.
About The Role
As the successful Tutor, you will work as part of the Tutor team in supporting and guiding learners with learning difficulties/disabilities in both individual and small group learning sessions.
You may work with primary, secondary or Post 16 learners to support and assist them in establishing good attendance, positive relationships, a routine, trust and respect for the environment and the people within it. The post holder will support teaching and learning with the school.

Additional Information
This is a full-time, permanent, term time only position which is 40 weeks per year. You will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Essential Criteria

  • Good knowledge of special educational needs & disabilities
  • Relevant experience in addressing social exclusion, including; youth work, alternative education provisions, community development, and dealing with vulnerable people and those with complex needs (SEN)
  • Understanding of working with people with challenging behaviour, complex needs or disabilities
  • Willing to keep up to date in subject knowledge and national developments

Desirable Criteria

  • Educated to A level or above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and their application
  • Full UK driving licence

We are excited to have vacancies for people to join our team. Currently, we are looking for a SEN Teacher. The post holder will lead teaching for learners who for various reasons do not access mainstream education and have a single or comorbid special educational needs. They will engage in teaching and learning activities and will lead/support the planning, preparation, and delivery of lessons on a one-to-one basis and with small groups. They will also support others to track the progress of learners.
